Its fast-paced, filled to overflowing with fighting and looks good. Its so amazing, even Spider-Man, a super-being whose book says 'amazing' before even the star's name, couldn't believe how utterly amazing, spectacular and web of it is. On paper. The problem lies in which elements from those things they mixed in here. Devil May Cry. Nothing wrong with that. Except that it has goofy dialogue, sometimes targets the enemy it has a crush on instead of the one about to impale you and the jumping can be a problem when it really, really would help not to be.

Thats all in here. To be fair, jumping only comes up once aside from jumping up out of floods of enemies, but the once is the kind of thing where it takes a bunch of tries and experimenting with inching and running and hitting the exact edge and still not getting across and swearing. But its optional, so theres that. Another problem is combos. Remember how in DMC, you could link sword combos with guns or juggle demons for a while with handguns and then let them get low enough, just so you can knock them back up and continue until it died or you had another zany idea for how to kill the poor thing?

Wasn't that cool? Some characters will just fight and fight and fight. And then they'll fight. Later on, fighting. But the others will do four to eight hits and then just stop dead.

The guy with the ball and chain is particularly bad about this since it takes him a second to start up again. And oh yes, enemies WILL be on him in that break. The pause is just long enough that it feels like maybe you can start it up again before this current swarm gets within striking distance, but you can't unless they're about a second away. Another character who stops combos doesn't even need to because of centrifugal force, he just does so he can unsheathe the sword again next time.

It doesn't hurt beginning a new combo, but it does halt the one you had going against your will. But at least fighting is easy, if not always effective. I call games like this button-abusers because most of the gameplay consists of beating the hell out of one or two buttons. You can literally do that and sometimes move the left stick and beat the game. If you already own it and are reading this review for fun or to see how strongly others agree with you about it, try it out.

I'll check back with this group later. I've tried to mix it up, but the attacks are what they are. Your moves list is six things long and you can't really do any variations on them. I've never died though.

In all my eight playthroughs, no deaths. Let me check real quick. Its lame. Not both. Its not that it couldn't be done, it just wasn't. Zone of the Enders. Now those were some games! And yes, there is some ZOE in Sengoku etc. And thats great. Remember, you can't spell 'visceral combat' without 'love is cat, Bart'. As far as actually fighting, its not that different. You're confined to the ground in Sengoku, but thats understandable.

If I held not having giant flying mechas against every game, I'd be one bitter man. The difference is in how interesting both are. ZOE takes place on a space colony you know, a city in a man-made massive bubble in space being raided and later the surfaces of a moon of Jupiter, Mars, a streaks of light tunnel like when something in Star Wars goes to light speed and the enemy base made of, yes, another moon.

Along the way, you fight interesting robots with swords and lasers and laser swords, unraveling a plot that, while not quite Metal Gear Solid-level, is still enjoyable. In this game, you go through Japanese landscapes, some of which are admittedly cool but all are pretty much what you'd expect.

In those areas, you fight billions of stock samurai who often pile out of the void like an invisible clown car, an occasional Halloween costume-style ninja, and bosses who are trying their best with what limited attacks they've got. Its adorable in a way. In ZOE, you had to take care of the enemies before the hot-headed AI guys on your side demolished the city.

Clocks ticking and they've made it quite clear that you're the only one who cares if every non-combatant dies in fire and falling space-drywall. In Sengoku etc. I timed it. None of them did anything.

And its not that they started fighting at the minute mark; I just wanted to pretend that this game wasn't that stupid and left. It was just a one-time thing, right? No, it was not. You can't command your guys either. Not even basic 'defend' and 'follow me' commands. They do whatever they feel like, which is often ether nothing or adding to an already jumbled fight. Adding to the jumbling, not the fighting. Thanks guys. One thing it does just as well and even more than ZOE is interruptions.

It has that annoying thing where it shows you a little cut-scene of a gate opening, lets you take two steps or start a fight and then stops you to show a mountain or something. But theres nobody urging you to 'come here now', which automatically makes it pretty good.

On the plus side, this game is theoretically appropriate for all ages. There is no blood and no matter how obviously your giant sword, shotgun or half-ton iron ball of death with optional spikes, also of death should have made hundreds of heads vanish in a puff of red ickiness, the game insists the enemies are merely knocked out.

Thats a relief! Also, the actors do a pretty decent job, which isn't surprising considering who some of them are. I mean sure, what they're saying is often ridiculous one says 'Jeepers' with total sincerity. Really, it only makes the case for them being good stronger. The cut-scenes of character interaction would be pretty good if they had subtitles. I've scoured the options menu, all four options.

No subtitles. No option to make them speak Japanese, either. I would probably use the latest version of Dolphin, but if it gains me speed without any issues, I may downgrade to 3. As you can see, I play all manner of games, so I also feel just fine without AA, and lower resolution, but the above would be preferred.

I might even try some texture packs, I'm not quite sure at this point. I would also like to ask if Dolphin even supports SLI. If not, then I'm as good as asking if pigs can fly with this post. It's possible, as you can put a pig on an airplane, but it's not exactly optimal, either, because the pig would probably have some health problems by the end, not to mention everyone else on the plane would hear squealing the entire flight.
